User-facing search API layer
Senior Software Engineer · Search
Owned the services between TikTok’s search engines and the shopping experience, from architecture and integration through rollout and production operations.
- Architecture. Built the user-facing layer in Go: Search API for orchestration, Search Provider as the engine aggregator, and Search Pack as the item and component packer. Separated services so pack features could deploy independently.
- Integration & migration. Aggregated TikTok organic and advertising engines, maintained card, filter, and sort contracts, and migrated the API layer to ByteCloud with Kitex and zero reported cutover downtime.
- Commerce & tracking. Delivered product, video, store, and ad cards; promotion display, popups, and claims; engine impressions and event tracking. Bonus Promotion experiments reported +5.7% Main Orders per User.
- Governance & delivery. Handled blacklists, interventions, and product-status/moderation rules. Aligned Product, Frontend, QA, Ads, and Data Science on contracts, testing, rollback plans, and experiments; delivered an urgent policy fix in under one hour.
Search APIs, retrieval, and relevance features
Software Engineer · Search
Built search APIs across shopping surfaces and served as engineering PIC for product-card contracts, performance improvements, and downstream migrations.
- Search & relevance. Implemented Search APIs in Go across result, store, grocery, and discovery pages: product cards, advertisements, filters, sorting, retrieval, fine-ranking boosts/deboosts, NLP, and blacklists.
- Product contracts. Standardized organic and advertising product-card contracts with Android, iOS, desktop, and Ads teams, giving other shopping surfaces a shared reference implementation.
- Performance & ingestion. Optimized Elasticsearch queries, mappings, and Redis caching within the combined team program reporting $288K/year annualized savings. Limited ingestion-service contributions processed product information before indexing.
- Delivery & quality. Coordinated cross-department endpoint migrations with trackers and mitigation plans; built reusable query/cache abstractions, strengthened integration testing, mentored engineers, and supported production operations.

I’m a senior backend engineer based in Jakarta, originally from Surabaya. My strongest work sits where search API architecture, commerce goals, and production constraints meet.
I stay involved beyond implementation: aligning downstream teams, making migrations observable, operating experiments, and helping other engineers maintain what we ship.
Go is my primary language. At Tokopedia, I also worked on retrieval, fine-ranking boosts and deboosts, NLP, and limited product-ingestion changes. At TikTok, my ownership centred on Search API, Search Provider, and Search Pack.
